Sports Awards
At Baxenden St John’s we are extremely proud of our sporting success and positive attitude to PE and Physical Activity so we were delighted to be nominated for “Primary School of the Year for Sport” at the recent Hyndburn Sports Awards. In September we attended the awards ceremony at Accrington Town Hall. Following on from inspirational speeches from gymnast Craig Heap and boxer Stacey Copeland we were over the moon to win the title! This then put us forward, as the Hyndburn entry, for the Lancashire Sports Awards.
The Lancashire Sports Awards were held at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel at the end of November. We were up against a number of successful local schools who all provide amazing opportunities for PE and School Sport in their Primary Schools so we were delighted to be awarded the title of
“Lancashire Primary School of the Year for Sport”
This award is a well deserved as all pupils, both past and present, show a real interest in PE and Sport and are dedicated and enthusiastic about the subject.
