Testimonials
From the very beginning, we were greeted with warmth and kindness. The teachers and staff at Baxenden St Johns have gone above and beyond to ensure our child’s well-being and education. Their genuine concern for every student’s emotional and academic growth is truly commendable.
During a difficult period, when our family faced unforeseen circumstances, the school embraced us with open arms. The level of compassion and understanding displayed by the teachers and staff was exceptional. They created a nurturing environment that helped our child feel safe, supported, and motivated to continue learning.
Baxenden Primary has exceeded our expectations in terms of care, empathy, and support. We highly recommend this school to any parent seeking a nurturing and inclusive environment for their child’s educational journey.

Baxenden St Johns has been a great experience for Abigail, seeing her develop throughout each year group has been wonderful and thanks to all for this.
The Head Teacher, Teachers and not to forget the wonderful Office Staff are all caring and always have the best interest to the families and children.
They have a special thing here which especially made the Sats week a breeze mentally for Abigail, which took away any worries Abigail had due to the schools nurturing ways towards all the children.
On a difficult week of lessons, Abigail said to us “bring back the Sat’s week” as the teachers made the week fun, allowing the children to have time out as a reward after the tests, which the children really enjoyed, as well as the breakfast snacks before the tests.

Baxenden St John’s is such a fantastic school. It feels like a family and has such strong Christian values at its heart, which are effortlessly embedded into my children, teaching them kindness, love, integrity and above all, positivity. They become ready to face the world and the challenges of everyday life there. Even in Reception, they are taught the importance of forgiveness, bravery and honesty. My children excel not only academically, but as members of the school, and wider, community. Close links with St John’s church and the local Baxenden community make pupils aware of their responsibility to contribute positively to those around them. They are very much involved in supporting their neighbours. They are given a voice that counts. They are motivated to learn. My daughter was so proud seeing her ‘Protect our Community Playground’ poster up at the park, and both my children beamed with pride seeing their artwork on display at Haworth Art Gallery. School life is even more fun with frequent, exciting events – including Rockstar Day, a coronation picnic, summer fair and discos. Inspirational (often local) visitors hold workshops – the Bollywood dancing, Morris dancing, Samba drum and Leo Crabtree portraiture sessions looked super! Furthermore, the dedication of staff is evident at many of the out-of-school and weekend events where you will spot them chatting away to parents. Families are invited, emphasising the importance of family while making unforgettable memories. I almost cried watching my children perform in the Nativity in church. Parents and carers are often invited to celebrations and services at church and their strong link is apparent. My son was blessed on his entry into Reception and given his very own children’s Bible which he adores. Children are also encouraged to attend an impressive, character-building variety of extra-curricular activities including Just Imagine Performing Arts, Multi-Sports, Dance and Forest School clubs. My two adore their weekly Forest School sessions in class!
Sport at the school has officially been voted the best in Lancashire! This is no surprise with such an impressive variety of sports on offer. I love that healthy competition is allowed – children compete at Sports Day, unlike many other schools where no one is allowed to win first, second or third place! This works here because children are equipped with their Christian values and can cope with not winning. They enjoy taking part, just as they enjoy school life – wherever they are academically or athletically. Each child is celebrated not only for their academic or sport achievements, but for their bravery, honesty and kindness.
This all culminates in smiling faces, rosy cheeks and amazing behaviour! Baxenden St John’s is a hard-working, dedicated family committed to helping your child thrive in life.
