Worship

Our school helps us to walk with Jesus, to be the best that we can be. Through God’s love and guidance, we create an ethos of shared endeavour, friendship and co-operation to help us flourish academically, emotionally and spiritually.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Welcome to our worship page! We work closely with our church, St John’s the Baptist (located opposite our school) and in partnership with the Diocese of Blackburn to embed within our school culture the Christian values that underpin all areas of school life. Our school vision underpins all of the decisions we make, and is a golden thread running through our school and home lives.

Daily School Worships

Each day we gather together to worship. We have lots of different types of worship, including learning new hymns and a Friday celebration worship, which our parents and community are invited to attend. We have a different value each half term, on a 2-year cycle – this means we celebrate and learn about 12 different Christian values!

Here are our values & how we live them out at home & in school:

Worship Leaders

Worship leaders are chosen by their class each half term. They then support the class during class worships and also in whole school worship when they are asked to say our welcome words. Every child in the school is given the opportunity to become a worship leader at some point in their school career.

Prayer Leaders

The prayer leaders are chosen each half term. They say the class prayers before lunch and at the end of the school day. We are encouraging all children to develop the skill of spontaneous prayer, and the prayer leaders set the example for their class. Every child is given the opportunity to become a prayer leader during their time at Baxenden.

Confirmation

Whole school and year group worships are regularly held in our church. Our Y5 & 6 children have the opportunity to attend Holy Communion classes and get confirmed, and Mrs. Green was confirmed after Covid.

The Christian Calendar Services

There are a number of special services linked to key events in the Christian calendar for parents and the wider community to come and enjoy, such as Harvest Festival, Easter Worship and Christingle. Here are some pictures below from some of our services.
