Friends of Baxenden School

Our school helps us to walk with Jesus, to be the best that we can be.  Through God’s love and guidance, we create an ethos of shared endeavour, friendship and co-operation to help us flourish academically, emotionally and spiritually.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

All parents/carers are automatically members of the ‘Friends of Baxenden School (FOBS)’.

We meet regularly to plan events to raise money which is spent to provide additional resources/experiences for our children – we’re a very friendly and welcoming bunch!

Meetings are announced via letter, the school website and on our ‘Facebook’ page and new members are always welcome.

    Parents Landscaping the School!

Our parents (and children!) have really helped us to clear grass cuttings so the field can be used and clear away all of the dead tree branches so we can use the path to our forest school.

    Summer Gala 2023

We raised £900 and had a lot of fun, despite having to hold our fair in the school hall!

School Discos – Christmas, Easter and Leavers disco parties

‘Jedi Discos’ provides the music and lights, and the PTFA sort out the goodie bags.

    Look at our past achievements!

The school and PTFA are proud to announce that after a year of fundraising, our “The Beehive” fundraising project rasied £8000! The Beehive was finally opened by Bishop Philip – the Bishop of Burnley.

This was an ambitious project with a goal of raising £10,000 by summer of 2022 which will be put towards safeguarding the mental health and wellbeing of the children and staff of Baxenden St John’s school in response to recent unprecedented events and into the future. Please read the flyer below to find out more!

    Riley’s Beehive Fundraising

Riley in Y3 gave up gaming for Lent and replaced it with family activities everyday, linked with ’40 things’. Amongst other things, he planted 40 sunflowers one day, completed 40 exercises another day, spent another day finding 40 objects etc. We are really proud of him and he received a special trophy, as you can see in the video below!

Riley raised £330 in total for our Beehive – thank you, you and your family are amazing!

This year, the PTFA have bought us lockers for KS1 and Years 5 & 6. What a difference they have made to space in our cloakrooms!

The PTFA have also bought our Y6 bibles, and helped us to hatch eggs into chicks, by funding our ‘Living Eggs’ projects.

We have £5000 ready to spend on our new KS2 library, once COVID is over! The pictures are of our current libraries – we are hoping to rearrange, merge and buy new furniture to make a more purposeful area. Watch this space!
