Courage

The meaning of Courage (noun) is: “the ability to do something that frightens you or to show bravery.” For example, “she called on all her courage to face what she did not want to do.”
The quality of showing courage means to be brave and to do the right thing, not the easy thing – this is rooted in the character and nature of God. For example, “I showed courage to stand up for that person who was being bullied.” For a child, courage might look like doing something they don’t really want to do, such as trying a new skill or sport, or talking to an adult about their concerns.
Thought for the half term: Someone showing courage is able (but not necessarily happy or confident!) to do the right thing and not just the easy thing – to care about others and follow their moral compass and feelings. How can we show courage? By searching Google, there are lots of resources to find more about how you can help your child show courage and use the language in a meaningful way.
