Here’s a snippet into our first half term in Year 4!

Over the course of autumn 1, we have been extremely busy getting to grips with the new routines and learning expectations of year 4 life. The children have transitioned fantastically and have produced some excellent work in the process! From Nessie spotting, to aboriginal dot painting, we really have had a jam packed 7 weeks.

As a school, we have been fortunate enough to receive a wealth of enrichments which have been thoroughly enjoyed by all.

PE lessons with KICK- Coach Shola has been delivering weekly Netball lessons. Children have been learning the foundations of the sport and have just recently, been having small team competitions between their houses. Maybe your child could demonstrate their bounce and chest passes at home…

Harvest Service- For those of you who were fortunate enough to attend our KS2 Harvest service, I’m sure you will agree how fantastically the children performed ‘Harvest Rock and Roll’. I do believe some parents also enjoyed getting involved in the practising of the song at home, I have no doubts it was stuck in your head, as it was mine 🙂

MacMillan Coffee Morning- Thank you for your kind donations and delicious bakes. The coffee morning was a huge success and a lovely opportunity to welcome you into our school and for you to spend precious time with your children in the school environment.

Multi Cultural and Diversity Week- Throughout the course of the week, we explored Islam, Judaism and Hinduism. Through exploring other world religions, we were able to compare and contrast against Christianity and gain a deeper understanding and respect for other world faiths. To celebrate Black History Month, we used the week to explore local history of the Lancashire cotton mills and the slave trade. Thank you to those parents who shared information about the children’s ancestors who were involved in this piece of history on both sides of the Atlantic.

Learning all about the Mosque and its features.
Acting out the story of Hanukkah in God’s Garden.

Art- In our Art lessons this half term, our artist focus for aboriginal art has been Nellie Marks. We have closely looked at the skills and techniques used to depict this historical and traditional painting style. After lots of careful planning, children then created their own masterpieces. Take a look at the wonderful work held by many proud faces…
