Today, we had a visit from Rachel. We learned all about Parliament, the M.P’s Constituency, elections and voting.

The children in Year 5 had the chance to work in groups (parties) and come up with their own manifesto. Groups of children had to work together in order to vote for which point we wanted to bring forward to the rest of the class. Once the groups had presented their points, the class had to then elect the party they wanted to win based off the points they had chosen. When voting, the class voted a 3 way tie with Triangle, Pentagon and Oval all having 23%! We had a re-vote and the winning party was The Oval Party.
