Spring 1 Amazing Writing

The children have worked so hard in phonics and writing since starting in Year 1 in September and the progress we saw in our independent writing during the final week of this half term has blown everyone away! So much so we had to share some on our website. The children first watched and listened very carefully as we completed a modelled write based on the story of Zog by Julia Donaldson. We then innovated this with our own ideas. Changing the characters, the skill they were learning and the problem they faced and finally the medical help they were given.

We spent a lot of time orally reciting our story from our story map as we know that “If we can say it, we can write it”
