Design and Technology Year 1 Summer Term

For our final DT topic we received a brief of “Design and make a robot which is strong and stable and can stand up on its own” Before we embarked on our challenge we explored and evaluated some existing robots, read stories about robots for inspiration and explored some focus practical tasks of using tools. We learnt how to measure, saw using the hack saw, sand wood to make it safe and smooth, make pilot holes for hammering and screwing, using the hammer and screwdriver safely and using the hot glue gun. We all designed individual robots, selecting the tools and techniques we preferred.
