What a busy start to the new year we have had in Year 4! Take a look at some of the things we’ve been up to…

For Spring 1, our worship leaders are Mollie F and Esme. Our prayer leader is Sophia.

Accrington Stanley Visit- Thank you to Miss O’Brien for organising our afternoon with Stanley’s No17, Jack Nolan. Year 4 were delighted to get the opportunity to have a Q&A session with the football star, learning all about his success’ in his career so far. They were even fortunate enough to get photo opportunities and have their very own Accrington Stanley memorabilia signed. A massive thank you to Jack for taking time out to make 30 children, 1 teacher and 1 Office Manager extremely happy!

3D Printing Project- As part of some training I have been on, we were loaned a 3D printer for myself and Year 4 to trial. Whilst the design project using the CAD software did become a little challenging at times, as a team, we persevered to create our very own 3D printed keyrings. I am extremely proud of all of the children for the team work and commitment shown towards this project.

Sportscool- For the spring term, we are fortunate to have Coach Scott leading our Games lessons. This half term, our focus was on Basketball, where children learnt how to correctly bounce and chest pass, progressing onto small team games using tactics and defense.

Art- Our art topic this half term was Stone Age cave paintings which linked to our Bronze to Iron Age History topic. After we had analysed prehistoric cave paintings, we used our printing, dyeing and weaving skills to create our very own masterpieces. These three elements were then combined in our reading nook to create our very own Y4 cave!

Safer Internet Day 2024- This Safer Internet Day was focussed around the ever expanding AI phenomenon, after exploring it’s uses in modern society, we considered how to stay safe when accessing AI technology.

Times Tables- I have again seen some fantastic progress with timetables recall within Year 4, keep this up and remember to keep accessing TTRS in the run up to our MTC. Special well done to Molly D for completing a massive 240 games (so far) on Soundcheck!!

Podcasts- The children worked hard in pairs to create their very own podcasts. We had an array of topics, from football themed, to internet safety. After writing their own scripts, pairing them with jingles and music, the duos recorded their creations using the Audacity software. Particular mention to Sophia and Niko, who composed their jingle using their own musical instruments- I admire your ambition.
