We Support Ukraine

As a church school and community, we worked together to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people and offered our support by assisting in the effort of local charities who were sending essential supplies to Ukrainian refugees across Europe.
Baxenden acted as a local drop off point for donations throughout the day on Thursday, 3rd March.
We asked for volunteers to help transport donations to an official drop off point which had been set up by the Polish Integration Support Centre in Tottington, Bury.
We have a strong charitable ethos at Baxenden St John’s and we successfully rallied support for this extremely urgent cause, despite it being a short notice request, as the aid vehicles were leaving the UK on Friday!
Mrs. Green also delivered a short assembly to the whole school which covered the crisis in Ukraine. The aim of the assembly was to explain the facts in a sensitive and careful manner, to properly inform children and alleviate any anxieties they may have had. The following resource was used.
