World Book Day 2022

Our theme this year was ” You Are A Reader!”

To mark the occasion, and to encourage everyone to believe they are a reader, we asked all children to come to school dressed as their favourite fictional character (preferably from a book!).

We also asked children to bring in a book from home, which they have read and enjoyed, to enter into the ‘Big Baxenden Book Swap!’ During the Big Book Swap, children had the opportunity to swap their book for one brought in by another child. We then used their newly chosen books in a whole school ‘Big Read’, during the afternoon.

Throughout the day, there was a range of exciting activities, which actively promote and encourage reading; this included author workshops, book discussions, reading out loud to the class and making reading fun.
