Year 6 Autumn 1 Blog

What a busy first half term we have had in Year 6! Mrs Crighton, Mrs Blakeley and I have all been very impressed with how the children have settled into their new class and how hard they are working.

In the first couple of weeks, we had a visit to Haslingden High trying out a science, RE and PE lesson. The children had a great time working together and having a taster of what secondary school is like. In English, we have been reading and analysing ‘The Nowhere Emporium’ by Ross MacKenzie. In one lesson, the children used freeze frames to retell the prologue as we started to make predictions about what might happen next.

The half term concluded with our Cultural Diversity Week where children participated in Islamic and Sikhism workshops as well as learning about the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
