Y3 Local Walk – 18/10/23
Y3 have been learning about Baxenden during our geography topic this half term. We went on a walk to follow our local maps, using compasses….
Our school helps us to walk with Jesus, to be the best that we can be. Through God’s love and guidance, we create an ethos of shared endeavour, friendship and co-operation to help us flourish academically, emotionally and spiritually.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Year 3 marks the start of your child’s journey in Key Stage 2. Miss Swift and I are here to support and guide the class as they work through this exciting year.
During the year, children will be encouraged to become independent members of the junior section of the school by making responsible choices when it comes to their own learning and behaviour. Children will be given opportunities to read more widely, develop their subject knowledge in all existing areas as well as begin to learn a new language – French.
They will study several interesting topics such as the Stone Age period in history lessons, all about our amazing county of Lancashire and how to navigate around the local area using their map skills in geography sessions and they will gain an understanding of the amazing skeletal and muscular systems in our bodies in science!
Year 3 is also an exciting year for the children as they have the opportunity to take part in a wider range of extracurricular activities such as joining the choir. They may be selected to represent the school in various sports teams. They will have the opportunity to apply to be a member of the School Parliament or the God Squad as well as learn a musical instrument with one of our fantastic visiting tutors.
On this page you will find information regarding what your child is learning in class as well as regularly updated photographs.
Thank you for your interest and support!
