New Reception Parents
Our school helps us to walk with Jesus, to be the best that we can be. Through God’s love and guidance, we create an ethos of shared endeavour, friendship and co-operation to help us flourish academically, emotionally and spiritually.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
Welcome to Baxenden in September!
We are delighted that you and your child are joining Baxenden St. John’s CE Primary School this coming September (or considering joining us!). On behalf of the Staff, Governors, children and parents, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you and your family to our school family!
We hope that the information on this page will answer many of the questions that you have about your child starting school with us in September and assure you that we will write to you in the coming weeks with further details about your child’s induction. Please browse the website (class pages, our faith, home learning) to find out more about how we learn.
This page will be updated with information as it is needed, but in the meantime, if you wish to talk to someone, please call the school office.

Transition
We will be talking to pre-school and nursery settings, as we always do, to find out where your child is in their learning. We also like to talk to you directly to find out about your child’s preferences; things they particularly enjoy, find difficult etc. and share our own expectations in a parents information evening. However, if this is not possible due to the current situation, we will think creatively to ensure that we receive all of the information that we need about your child.
Although ‘lockdown’ was in 2020-2021, the information in the below booklet is still relevant to support your child when they begin school.

‘All About Me!’ Booklet
During the next few months, we will be looking for ways to use videos and photos to introduce you and your children to our Reception class and your teachers. We really do want your child to be ‘school ready’, and if you read and complete the checklists below, your child will be one step ahead! If you don’t have access to a printer, please phone or email the school, and we can post a paper copy of any checklists or booklets below to your home address. Please try and bring the completed booklet/checklists with you when your child starts in September (or when you come on your first visit to school before then!) as tells us all about your child and their family!
