Eco Club
Our school helps us to walk with Jesus, to be the best that we can be. Through God’s love and guidance, we create an ethos of shared endeavour, friendship and co-operation to help us flourish academically, emotionally and spiritually.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

2022-2023 Eco Club
Miss. Shore ran the Eco club this year, and we are working hard to try and achieve our Eco Award next year! Look at everything we have done!
Prospects Foundation Eco Fest – June 2023
We took part in making a board for the EcoFest in Accrington Town Centre. Although the post says we came second, we actually found out that we had won! What a great achievement.

Keeping Britain Clean April 2023
Here is our next project!
Second Hand Book Sale March 2023
We decided to have a book sale during World Book Day to raise some money for bird boxes to put in our Forest school. We raised £67, which is fantastic!

Big Bird Watch – January 2023
The Eco club launched their first competition!
Woodnook Vale Woodland Walk 08/11/22
We went on a nature/Eco walk with Y5, with Joel from Prospects in Accrington. We completed a quiz and looked at the nature and spirituality around us.

Apple Trees – Summer & Autumn 2022
We worked with Joel from Prospects to plant apple trees in the school playground during the summer term. Although the Y6 children then left to go to secondary school, in the autumn term we picked the apples (there were 3 off the trees!) and made an apple crumble to take home! it was delicious!

2021-2022 Green Mentors

Our Green Mentors are a group of five Y6 children and six Y5 children, who are trying to inspire the citizens of our school and country to improve how they are treating the environment. Mrs. Green started with asking for applications from our year 6 children, who had to research and fill in an application form to prove that they had the right skills and commitment. Here are some examples:

Each member of parliament then had to campaign to the whole school to show why they would make a great Leader for our group. After holding a whole school vote, our new leader of the group was chosen. Here are some pictures and a video of the process:
Hyndburn Book Heroes
We recycled books and managed to collect 452 for the local charity Hyndburn Book Heroes.

Baxenden Wombles
Baxenden wombles have their own Facebook group, founded by a group of parents. Esme and Honor filmed a video to present at a worldwide conference about helping the environment. You can watch their video here and also listen to a voiceover with larger pictures:
Our first job was to write some letters and begin working on some local projects.
Safer Travel to School
We sent this letter to the safer travel team at Lancashire to ask for their help:
Our letter worked! Suzi from the safer travel team gave us a banner for outside the school and some road safety promotion items! We also have a ‘walk to school week’ coming up!

Hyndburn Eco-Festival 2021
We began by sending a letter to our local MP, Sara Britcliffe. She replied to us (a bit later than we thought as the letter got lost in the post!) and we will be organising a meeting in the near future:
